Sen. Rob Kane Appointed to Govt. Efficiencies Panel

October 2, 2013

Senate Minority Leader John McKinney has appointed Sen. Rob Kane to the Results First Policy Oversight Committee, citing Sen. Kane’s budget policy expertise and his extensive record as a fiscal watchdog.

“I’m honored to have been appointed to serve the taxpayers in this way,” said Sen. Kane, who serves as the lead Republican senator on the Connecticut General Assembly’s Appropriations Committee. “We need to make sure we are getting taxpayers the most bang for their buck in state government. Wasteful spending must be eliminated. This panel will focus on generating efficiencies throughout state government. I see this as an opportunity to start getting our state’s fiscal house in order. Right now, the situation is out of control. The taxpayers deserve better.”

The Results First Policy Oversight Committee is mandated by a new state law which calls for streamlining of policies and programs in the state. The committee is designed to develop and implement plans through the Pew-MacArthur Results First cost-benefit analysis model, delivering a report to the governor’s office and the legislature annually.

Sen. Kane joins the 14-member committee with lawmakers from each Senate and House caucus, the state comptroller’s office, legal advisers, education officials, and members of the business community.
