Rally at WCSU – Sen. Boucher joined students over proposed tuition and fee increases

Senator Toni Boucher (R-Wilton) and students from Western Connecticut State University Rallied against proposed tuition and fee hikes on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. The tuition and fee increase proposal is slated for consideration by the Finance Committee of the Board of Regents Thursday in Hartford. The full Board of Regents will consider the increases at their March 21 meeting in Hartford. According to the finance report from the board of regents mandatory fees for instate undergraduate students would increase by an average of $434 or 5.1% per year. Added to the proposed 5.25% increase in tuition for an instate undergraduate it’s nearly an 11% increase on students who are trying to earn a college degree.

Senator Boucher is the ranking member on the Higher Education Committee.
