Boucher statement re: Meotti raise issue

October 10, 2012

Hartford, CT – State Senator Toni Boucher (R Wilton) and ranking member on the states Higher Education Committee released the following statement today re: Board of Regents Vice President Michael Meotti pay raise issue.

“Michael Meotti was correct to give back the increase in compensation. It was the right thing to do given the current state of the economy, controversial pay increases of the past and the dire financial problems our state currently faces.

“In today’s world, governmental institutions must have greater oversight and responsible governance must be employed. One of the areas of greatest concern is compensation.

“For the first time, the public sector is outpacing the private sector. It is understandable that the public is wary and they should be.”
