Hartford – State Senator Kevin Witkos (R-8) welcomed Oleksandr Motsyk, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, to the State Capitol on Thursday, March 22nd.

“I am pleased to welcome Ambassador Motsyk to the State of Connecticut,” said Senator Witkos. “Our meeting was an excellent opportunity to discuss how we can strengthen the cultural, economic and educational ties between our state and Ukraine. I look forward to working with the Ambassador and representatives of local cultural organizations to find new areas of increased cooperation.”

Ambassador Motsyk spoke about his interest in forming connections between towns and cities in the United States and Ukraine. He also spoke about potential growth in trade between the two countries, including agricultural goods and steel products. During his two-day tour of Connecticut, Ambassador Motsyk met with a wide variety of business, education and government leaders.

They were also joined by representatives of the Fermata Arts Foundation, an Avon-based non-profit organization that promotes cultural communication between Eastern Europe and the West through art, architecture, philosophy and poetry.
