Why wait? Shoreline rebuilding

February 6, 2012

Senator Len Fasano statement re: creation of a shoreline preservation task force.

“I am supportive of examining long term solutions concerning our shoreline communities. People living along the shoreline in my district were devastated by Tropical Storm Irene. However, we need immediate legislation to deal with significant beach erosion problems and the ability of residents to properly protect their homes and their lives. We can not wait an entire year to report back to the General Assembly about an issue that is affecting these people now. I look forward to being on this task force and making sure our residents are taken care of well into the future. But I would hope legislators don’t lose sight of the immediacy of the issues now present along the shoreline.”
