Day Trips with Kids: Fun, Free and Family-Friendly

Spend some time exploring the seat of state government through tours of Connecticut’s Supreme Court, State Capitol and the Museum of Connecticut History.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.

Activities include:

  • a scavenger hunt in the Museum of Connecticut History, where you will find exhibits that trace the growth of the State and its role in the development of the nation
  • visit the State Capitol’s Hall of Flags, which displays flags Connecticut soldiers have carried into battle, and also learn about the legislative process
  • join the Judicial Branch in celebrating the upcoming 100th anniversary of the historic Connecticut Supreme Court courtroom by visiting and learning about the room where Connecticut’s most important legal rulings have occurred
