Sen. Kane to Hold March 29 Public Meeting at Watertown High

March 16, 2011

State Senator Rob Kane and State Representative Sean Williams today announced that they will hold a Town Hall Meeting at Watertown High School Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 7 PM to 8:30 PM.

“The governor’s proposal increases taxes on everything: income taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, and even taxes on haircuts and hotels,” Kane said. “It eliminates the $500 property tax exemption that Watertown residents rely on year after year. Its elimination of the state’s Manufacturing Machinery and Equipment tax exemption program will result in Watertown taking a whopping $678,144 hit. That hit will result in local tax hikes and hurt our ongoing efforts to retain and grow local manufacturing jobs. The plan also spends too much, increasing the state budget from $19.3 billion in the current year, to $19.7 billion next year, and to more than $20 billion in 2013. When every family and business across our state is looking for ways to reduce their spending, government is spending more.

Everyone deserves to have their voice heard on these issues. I look forward to seeing area residents on March 29, listening to their concerns and answering their questions.”

The High School is located at 324 French Street.
