Senator Toni Boucher Attends the Jewish Federation’s Holocaust Commemoration

April 16, 2010

Today, April 16th, State Senator Toni Boucher (R-26) attended the Jewish Federation’s 32nd Holocaust Commemoration in the Senate Chambers of the State Capitol. This Day of Remembrance featured a reflection by Ray Gawendo, a Holocaust survivor from the Klooga Concentration Camp in Estonia.

Speakers at the commemoration also included teachers and students who took part in Connecticut’s Encountering Survivors: Lessons from the Holocaust, a program that brought together students and Holocaust survivors, or children of Holocaust survivors, to learn about life before and after the Holocaust.

Senator Boucher expressed the following thoughts at the commemoration, “it is a privilege and an honor to join you in commemorating and remembering the world’s worst example of inhumanity that we must never forget and, to read the official proclamation by her Excellency M. Jodi Rell.”
