Senator Kane Hails Regional Informational Energy Forums As “Fantastic Success”

Urges Interested Constituents Who Could Not Attend To Contact His Office For Information

Senator Rob Kane (R-32) urged interested constituents who were not able to attend the energy forums he co-hosted in Southbury, Seymour and Watertown to contact his office for information about the various assistance and conservation programs available to eligible Connecticut residents.

“The bottom line is that we want people to know how to get the help they need if they are worried about keeping warm this winter. Our forums were a fantastic success and, I believe, very helpful to the many people who attended each one. However, there are many more people who need to know what kind of help is available and I want to make sure they know how to get that information. Senator Kane, who co-hosted the Watertown energy forum with Representative Sean Williams (R-68) and the Seymour forum with Senator Dan Debicella (R-21), thanked the representatives of Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) who attended each of the forums to provide information and answer questions.

“I learned a lot from attending these forums, and have even started buying energy efficient light bulbs after listening to the CL&P officials explain the benefits. Actually, CL&P offers a Weatherization Residential Assistance Partnership (WRAP) program to help income eligible customers make their homes more efficient and reduce their energy bills. Senator Kane said that Connecticut is fortunate to have a wide variety of energy assistance programs, including the fuel banks operated by some municipalities, the programs offered by utility companies, the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) administered by the state and coordinated by community action agencies, the Contingency Heating Assistance Program (CHAP), and the non-profit Operation Fuel.
