May 28, 2008

Senator Rob Kane (R-32) and Representative Sean Williams (R-68) recently welcomed a contingent of dignitaries from Cercemaggiore, Italy who traveled to Watertown to visit with members of the local Cercemaggiore Club.

During the visit, Senator Kane and Representative Williams hosted the group’s visit to the State Capitol and introduced the visitors to Lt. Governor Michael Fedele, who was born in Minturno, Italy.

“Many residents of Cercemaggiore have settled in the Greater Watertown area, and back in 1974 they established the local Cercemaggiore Club. It was exciting for all of us to meet with Cercemaggiore’s mayor and his community’s other dignitaries here in Watertown, and we hope they will visit us again,” said Senator Kane.

“It was a pleasure to show our visitors around the State Capitol, and to introduce them to Lieutenant Governor Fedele, who speaks fluent Italian. I hope they enjoyed their visit as much as we enjoyed having them,” said Representative Williams. “It was a great opportunity for Oakville and Watertown residents to meet with residents and officials from Cercemaggiore and to catch up on the latest news from our sister city in Italy.”
